Crowns (Caps) are required when the tooth is either too difficult to restore with a traditional filling, or a tooth requires a pulpal therapy, in which case the tooth is restored with a crown to protect the tooth from further breakdown. Most often, stainless steel crowns are used to restore primary teeth, but there are other options such as all-white Zirconia crowns for esthetic areas of the mouth.
