If your child is not able to undergo treatment in the traditional dental setting, either due to extreme anxiety, inability to cooperate, or special needs, Dr. Verma can discuss options for treating your child under sedation. This is accomplished with the help of a Board Certified Dental Anesthesiologist, who will come into the office to sedate your child in a safe and efficient manner.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, goofy gas, or ice cream air, is a safe, effective anxiolytic agent used to calm a child’s fear of the dental visit and enhance effective communication. Additionally, it works well for children whose gag reflex interferes with dental treatment. It is a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen gases, and it works to minimize anxiety in the dental setting. Dr. Verma can discuss the benefits of nitrous oxide, should your child require it.
